Morning After Surgery

Hannah is awake and doing better than last night- she is more comfortable with the halo. She really struggled with it last night- and she was frustrated and uncomfortable. It was a rough night but the sunlight this morning brought a better day. She is still uncomfortable, but emotionally she is doing better. Today she feels more comfortable sharing pictures and her journey- but we are taking it one step at a time. PT came in this morning and attached 12 lbs of weights to the halo. They will increase the weight every day over the next two weeks. People have asked how long she has to keep the weights attached- she keeps them on for 24 hours a day- she will have them on in bed and as we get her up and walking (hopefully later today) she will have a walker which will keep the weights with her.

A piece of good news is that she is excited about her room. It is directly over the street 4 floors up so Clark, Aidan, Declan and Betty Rose are already planning drive bys and they can stand outside and she can see them from the window. A small thing- but it has brought her relief that she can see them.

Our hope is to get her up and walking a bit today- so I will try to post again later. In the meantime, Hannah has asked Aidan to do another guest post and her dad to do a guest post as well until she feels more able to post herself (she is afraid you are getting bored of me).

Love to all, Jenean

  1. Way to go Hannah!! Literally I was just about to write “ Hang in there Hannah” but I guess that’s what you’ll be doing for the next 2 weeks. LOL Hey just wondering – will this process make you taller? (Asking for a friend!)
