Day 12

“It’s unfortunate that we did not get a chance to make a video today but today was a rough day with a combination of constipation, vomiting and pain throughout the day. It was altogether the most challenging day I have had so far. The traction weights are up to 34 lbs and I am dreaming and praying for when they are gone. We hope to have a better update for you tomorrow.” Dictated by Hannah to Mom from bed.

  1. My heart goes out to you Hannah – I could feel how hard this was, even to dictate. I’m so sorry it is so hard. I know you are brave and strong, but it is still so difficult. It will get easier but it is not so today. Sending you my love and light for ease and grace as you continue the last stages of this part of your journey before the next surgery. Holding you close with comfort and compassion.

  2. Hi Hannah! This is the Martello’s from the Hotspurs – Chris, Toni Ann, Annabella, Alicia, and Anthony. We are just catching up on everything that has been going on. We are praying for you. Alicia’s grandma is part of a Rosary prayer group and has included praying for you. You are such a strong and brave person. We know the strength and determination you have. We saw it on the soccer field. You can do this! You will get through this and you will get better. God will give you the strength to get through this. We are thinking of you, praying for you, and cheering you on. You are a tough Lady Hotspur and you can do anything!!

  3. Oh that’s terrible, wish you didn’t have to suffer so much because of this halo traction. This roller coaster ride is coming to an end. The traction is almost over, then the surgery will repair your spine, hang in there! You are a tough girl and you have a fantastic family and friends that will help you through this. You are in an excellent hospital with the best medical staff that is going to take great care of you. Sometimes we have to go through rough times before things get better. Just remember things will get better soon and you and your mom will be planning wonderful trips to Hawaii and Paris for 2021. You are a Warrior that can tackle life’s challenges! You Got This!! ❤️

  5. As your weights have been increasing, I’ve been making comparisons inside my head about things that I am familiar with, as a way of trying to understand what you are experiencing. At 11 lbs., I compared it to our cat, Noodle. At 20 lbs., I compared it to a car tire. This morning, I ran out of comparisons, so I googled the question, “What weighs 34 lbs.?” It turns out that a cinder block weighs 33 lbs. and a mid-sized microwave weighs 36 lbs.! It’s hard to imagine a young lady like yourself carrying either one of these things on her head all day, but here you are doing it. Your journey sounds so hard, yet you are reaching your goal one moment at a time. I’m sorry that yesterday was so challenging and I hope that today brings some relief and at least two moments laughter or joy.
