Hannah is out of surgery. Dr. Cahill was able to complete the spinal fusion. She lost a good deal of blood and they lost some nerve and spinal signals towards the end of the surgery. She is now in the ICU where she is on medicine to artificially raise her blood pressure in order to get as much blood to her spinal cord and give it the best chance of recovery and healing. There is a lot of good news and cause for relief: the fact that they were able to complete the fusion, and that some signals were strong and consistent. However, there is also some scary news – we are back in the ICU and on high doses of blood pressure meds. Tonight will be a long night in the ICU and monitoring her heart and MAPS (mean arterial pressure). Medication is keeping her resting right now, which is a blessing. They will wake her up in a few hours to do a neuro test. I will update again tomorrow- thank you for all the messages and support!

Good news, Hannah is amazing and I’m sure she will continue to defy the odds.
